SVDP International Council Appeal-Jan.2010
SVDP Parish Conferences are asked to send their donations for the SVDP International Council(ICG-International Council General) directly to the National Council of the United States, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 58 Progress Parkway, St. Louis, MO 63043 and mark in the memo "ICG Fair Share." Background: SVDP Parish Conferences recently received a DVD from the SVDP National Council in which Terry Wilson, National Vice President(a member of the Phoenix, AZ SVDP), explained the need for funds at the International level of the SVDP. The ICG(SVDP International Council General) administers Frederic Ozanam's vision of a "network of charity" around the world. It is located in Paris, France where the first SVDP Conference was formed in 1833 by Frederic Ozanam. In recent years, the ICG has been depending on unorganized offerings from SVDP Councils around the world to accomplish its work. After some study, to continue its work of administering the SVDP Worldwide, it has been recommended that all SVDP units in the 16 richest countries(the United States being the first) provide a percentage of their cash income to the ICG. The percentage for this year is .001 and will rise over the next few years to .003. This year if a Conference has yearly cash receipts of $20,000.00 it should send $20.00.
